The Finnish Student Sports Federation will choose a new membership model at the General Assembly in Tampere
The General Assembly of the Finnish Student Sports Federation (OLL) is taking place at Varala Sports Institute in Tampere on the 8–9 of November. The General Assembly is the highest decision-making body in the Federation, which will be celebrating its 100th anniversary next year. One of the main topics of this year’s General Assembly was renewing the strategy and membership model of the Federation.
The General Assembly will be opened on Wednesday 8 November at 10:30 am, and approximately 40 delegates who are entitled to vote will take part. This year's address to the General Assembly will be given by Minister of Youth, Sport and Physical Activity, Sandra Bergqvist. On Wednesday evening the GA delegates will be visiting Tampere City Hall as the guests of the City of Tampere. At this event, the OLL Trophy and the Flame of the Year prize will be awarded to people or organisations who have promoted university sports in the past year.
A new board will be elected for 2024 on Thursday. During the two-day General Assembly, delegates will discuss both statutory documents and the Federation’s strategy for 2024–2028, and the new membership model will be added to the charters. The new membership model has been under preparation for several years, and it will see the Federation inviting universities to an even closer collaboration in promoting universities on the move. The General Assembly will also discuss how to achieve a safer space and more equal university sports for everyone.
Representatives of the media can follow the proceedings in person at Varala. The General Assembly will also be live streamed on OLL’s YouTube channel, where it is free to watch. A link to the live broadcast will be published on the morning of each day of the assembly on the General Assembly website. The timeline of the assembly, the documents to be discussed, and other details will also be published on the same website. On social media, we will be using #liikuntaliitto.
OLL represents all university students in Finland. It has members from the student unions of 20 universities and universities of applied sciences.
