The European Universities Championships and the European Universities Games
The organisation of the European Universities Championships (EUC) is coordinated by the European University Sports Association (EUSA), the European umbrella organisation for student sports, of which OLL is a member.
There are several European Universities Championships held every year in many different sports. The massive European Universities Games multi-sport event is held every two years. In both the EUC and the European Universities Games, teams primarily represent their own universities.
Winners of the competitive series of the Finnish Student Championships are automatically granted the right to represent Finland in the European Universities Championships and the European Universities Games for the sport in question.
Each country may normally send only one team to the European Universities Championships and to the European Universities Games. This team is often the national student champion of the sport in question.
OLL grants the right of representation to Finnish teams. The right of representation for a certain sport is granted to the winner(s) of the Finnish Student Championships, provided that an FSC is held for the sport in question.
If the sport in question does not have its own series in the FSC, athletes may apply for the right of representation by submitting an application to OLL.
All athletes participating in the competitions must be higher education students and aged 18–30. A team may include members from several higher education institutions, provided that the higher education institutions are located in the same municipality.
