The OLL board for 2019 elected

Last Friday, the general assembly of the Finnish Student Sports Federation (OLL) elected the union board for 2019 at Pajulahti Sports Centre in Nastola. Joonas Suikula of the Student Union of Lappeenranta University of Technology was elected as President for 2019. In addition to President Suikula, Vice-Presidents Tiina Anttonen (Metropolia University of Applied Sciences Student Union METKA) and Harri Nurmi (Diakonia University of Applied Sciences Student Union O’Diako) were elected as well as board member Hanna Savander (University of Jyväskylä).

”I am looking forward to the upcoming year and the opportunity to advance the conditions for student sports across Finland. There is an important election year ahead,” Suikula said of his recent election as OLL’s President.

The general assembly approved OLL’s action plan and budget for 2019. The key themes of the action plan were advancement of equality in student sports through long-term lobbying and an evaluation project on the effects of gender and equality in sports, the 2019 parliamentary elections and inspiring conversation around the union’s election goals as well as bringing updated recommendations for student sports to institutions of higher education. In addition, OLL will start to explore its opportunities to apply to host the 2026 EUSA Games in Finland.

The general assembly also gave a collective statement in which it called for a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment in sports. In the statement, the general assembly demanded strong action to eliminate sexual harassment and clear instructions for how to intervene in harassment.

OLL congratulates our new board members and thanks everyone who took part in the general assembly!
